So will a nonvented fit on a later model LT1 that has a vented Opti? I'd rather spend the extra few bucks if it'll work just fine on my '97 then have to replace the sumb!tch again the next time my waterpump conks out and leaks down the venting.

The non-vented causes more problems than the vented. That's why they were redesigned. Stick with the vented.

The vented model is an "improvement" over the non-vented opti.
