Why the need for a 54mm tb??

They probably tested a 52mm TB and found out that it was too small, then tested a 58mm TB and found out that it was too big, so they probably chose to go the middle-way with a 54mm TB.
I didn't know anyone made 54mm TBs for our cars though, you learn something new everyday.
