Why is my car over heating?

I just got my car back together after replacing the head gaskets and i started it up and let it idle. while idleing it ran about 200, this is at night in about 65 degree weather. i took it down the road and the temp went up to about 220. i then parked it at home and let it idle. it didn't cool off any but didn't rise. the car has a relitivly new water pump and a new thermostat, i also pulled out the radiator and it looks fine, can you tell for sure if a radiator is bad by looking at it? could someone please help me out here.

Sounds normal that it rises to 220, but the fans should kick in and lower the temps to 200 then repeat the cycle. Are your fans working properly?

Try flushing the radiator. Did you bleed the radiator when you changed the water pump and thermostat? Also, take the radiator cap off and make sure that it is pumping water.

Im still trying to figure out why my car is only running at 135degrees.....

Im good at making overheating problems go away.
