Why the hell has no company made a complete, cheap, reliable opti eliminator?

Any companies want to make some big bank, make an opti eliminator, that totally gets rid of the opti and uses ls1 coil packs.

Went down to the milehigh nationals, and coming home it ****ing flat out poured. i-70 had 6 inches of water on it, no joke. Good thing i had my pickup, cause if not the opti guaranteed would have croaked.

Theres only 3 options i have heard for a opti replacement:

LTCC, good, but doesnt fully eliminate it.

that opti eliminator, good luck finding one and then if you have problems, support on it.

aftermarket computer, ya right. $2000+, no thanks.

What about taking the spark out of the opti like the ltcc does, then making a small opti type thing on the front which is totally waterproof for the low and high res signals? kinda like a crank trigger, but a cam trigger?

somethin needs to happen though! Any company who makes one will become rich, guarantee it! I guess ill call a few companies, see if they would be interested hehe.

It would be an expensive piece to design and manufacture, and there is a limited market.

I was talking to the "parts guy" at GM about the opticrap, he seemed to know what he was talking about for the most part, tho he was a bit old. But he was mentioning that I should just remove the optispark system from my car and i was like . He said that MOPAC makes a system to elimiate it. I don't know how credible the guy was he didnt give much details, but he seemed pretty sure they made something. The guy was like 60 years old and seemed to be quite a car buff, but was kinda gettinga bit senile so i'm not sure Does anyone know what he might have been talking about? maybe he was just confused....?

maybe he was thinking motec computer. too expensive for my tastes

rich, i dont think it would be too terribly difficult? just taking the opti apart, putting the optical part in a new watertight case, and putting the spark through a box like the ltcc and the coils?

by small market i assume you mean it wouldnt work for any other cars, cause i know that it would sell like hotcakes in the fbody community.

There is an opti replacement (not eliminator) that appears to have eliminated the negatives of the oem opti. It goes by the name Dynaspark. Being a relatively limited production piece, the not surprising $600 price tag is/was high enuf for it to be ridiculed almost to death on this forum.

Maybe guys, on this forum, approaching that age, should be 'put out to pasture', B4 they get a little senile.
