I thought the stock bolt was 5/8"?

I'm gonna be reinstalling the hub in a day or two.
According to what i've seen, I need a 7/16-20 3" long bolt to get the hub started on, then a 2.5" bolt (7/16-20) to put it the rest of the way on?

5/8" is the head size, not the nominal size of the bolt and threads (7/16" in diameter, 20 threads per inch [7/16-20]). You really don't want to use bolts to pull the hub on. You will risk stripping out the crank threads. Better to use a high quality threaded rod with nut and washers to pull it on. That way the friction is all on the threaded rod and not on your crank threads.
