Why don't we have composites and aluminum

I have another car (ford zx2) that has more plastic on it then metal...

We need composite:
waterpump housing
throttle body
timing cover
intake
thermostat housing

aluminum:
powersteering pump
psp pulley
crank hub

that would probably take 30-40 pounds off the engine...

and i'm sure there are some other items that could be made of composite...

One of my co-workers struggling to find a good used intake manifold for his Ford with a crackec composite intake would like to disagree with you. He has found plenty of like cars in boneyards just the all have cracked intakes too. I believe some of the GM V6s with plastic intake have problems as well.
There is a guy on LS1Tech saying he is going to make a plastic intake though so go put your name on that list.

ATI makes aluminum hubs and dampers for the LT1.

On the PS pieces if you are that worried about weight maybe look into rack and pinion and lose the parasitic drag too.

You want to drop some weight--- if plan on racing run with about 3 gal of fuel. That will get you down in a hurry. How about a composite block...

The Gm 3800 engines used to have a plastic intake but if you look at the newest ones, its aluminum.

Two things.

1) Our cars are at least 10 years old. Composites were not widely used in V8 engines back then.

2) For the after market, the LT1 section of the market is is small compared to the rest and composites are too expensive to develop for such a limited market.

Because the LT1 was not blessed by the touch of God almighty himself like the holy LS1.
