Why does my car sound like it has a blower???
Why does my car sound like it has a blower???
I have a 93 Z that is getting upr there in miles, but is starting to show its age. Among other things the most annoying sound that it has is that of a blower sounding whine. It changes with the throttle and also with temperature. I have found that if I change my oil it tends to quite it for a short while, but I cannot keep changing oil every 1000 miles. The noise gets louder when it is warm outside, but not hot. It is also coming from the passenger side front. It sounds like it is coming from somewhere in between the altenator and the AC compressor near the front. Any ideas?

It sounds like your power steering pump. Flush the fluid and add some lucas treatment and it shoudl quiet everything down. Your other option is to buy a new one and replace it.

Well, I'll be. I thought I knew a lot about my car. It sure is on the passenger side and exactly where the noise is coming from. Thanks a lot.

I have the blower noise too. A board member here (what up 1BigBird3!!) pointed it out to me that it seems to be my belt and some oil that is spitting on the pulley. I have an oil leak from the timing chain cover area and it's leaving grime all over. My belt looks like it is worn too.
