why does my car pull to the left while braking?

no actually, this doesn't seem related to the whole curb incident

it seems as though if i apply brakes lightly it won't pull, but if i put it moderately to hard to stop at a stoplight it'll pull hard.

collapsed brake line? would this be caused by hanging the caliper from the brake line while working on it? i didn't do this, but the mechanic did

Collasped Rubber Brakes Hoses results more from old age then any thing else. Replace with Stainless Steel Braided lines and cure your pulling problems.

is this easilly diagnosed or is the only way to figure out if this is the problem replacing the hose?

Replace the Brake hoses or take the other advice and start ripping the brake system apart. Good luck.

More than likely it's the easiet culprit. The darn 20$ caliper. A new brake line is expensive, and makes no sense unless it's damaged. My 89 Camaro started pulling left under med-hevy braking, the same exact gripe, and it was the caliper. Took 20 min. to change.
