Why does my car do this? (weird)

Here lately when I start my car it doesnt idle right. Most of the time it will idle at about 800-900 rpms, but here lately sometimes it will idle at about 400 rpms and almost die, i can hardly hear it running when it does this, does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be causing this problem?

check the intake elbow on the throttle body...mine did the same thing...i thought i had it all the way on there, but it seemed to work its way off, causes bad idle, and crappy performance.

my $0.02

I went and checked my intake elbow, that thing is destroyed! It has 2 major tears in it and needs to be fixed right away, so im hoping this is the problem, and what kinda of performance loss is expected with tears in an elbow anyway?

Maybe not so much performance problems since you have a 1993 and no MAF, but you are sucking dirty air into the engine. Your problem may still lie elsewhere, but first fix what you see broke.
