Why do people have such a woody for SLP headers?

I just installed a set of slp ceramic coated shorties for a 96 t/a. They were alright. The thing that made me wonder the most was....the number 8 cylinder primary was about 2 inches long then into the downtube. Wtf is that? ive installed mac, slp (now) bbk, hooker and jba's. The mac seemed the best overall the bbk were the easiest to install and the slp look the lamest. Yes big pipe, but with only a 2 inch primary ???

SLP's are the BEST flowing shorties out there. Thats what the big deal is...I had them then when I got the cam I went with hooker LT.

I agree.... I was researching all of them for a long time. From what I gathered they are built very well and give the most for a shorty type system.

Cool

I personally think SLP is more hype than anything else.

Consittered SLP headers but bought AS&M. They cost the same and looked better to me. That and SLP jerked me around and wouldn't answer basic questions I had.

Sounds like you installed SLP dual cat headers in your 96, who ever said SLP's dual cat headers were the greatest? I've actually heard more complaints about them than praise. I think you are thinking of single cat SLP's. Night and day difference in design.

well I gained .5 in the 1/4 from the SLP's alone. Plus they are pretty much like long tubes compared to other long tubes.

the only thing is plug access. it just plain suxs

Like Gregg said, the last four of us here in this post have a woody for the single cat headers

The dual cat ones are still a good option if the car needs to remain emmisions legal.... but your right they do comprimise the optimal HP design to remain legal.
