Question Why do Bosch O2 sensors suck?

I keep hearing on this board that Bosch O2 sensors aren't as good as GM or Ac Delco ones. What makes them not as good?? I ask because I just recently did my head gaskets on my car and I also went ahead and !EGR, !AIR, added Dynatech longtubes, had PCMforless programming, and put Bosch O2 sensors into the header collectors and when I drive my car, if its moving and I put it in neutral, it revs at 2500 RPMs and doesnt go down to 1000 rpms until I'm at a complete stop. What is causing this?? Is this due to the O2 sensors or what? Any help would be appreciated

Myles

If you don't like the bosch, have you tried the borg Warner? I'm using those and haven't had a problem yet.

That kind of sounds like another sensor (don't know which one). I changed to AC Delco O2s b/c of a rich condition, nothing like that.

When I used to have my 3rd gen, I went through 2 sets of Bosch O2's in 5000 miles before I switched to ACDelco's and they lasted over a year before I sold it.

that could be the reason Im having issues with mine revving to 1200 and running bad. My air fuel ratio gauge is all over the place on one O2 and gets no reading off the other

Hmm, maybe that is why I am getting a code for left lean o2

Oh well, screw it. I'll replace them when I do the new motor in the winter.

Bosch does make O2s for our LT1s.

I replaced mine with Bosch and never had a problem.

Ever.

However, I did have a problem with a cheaper brand.

Go AC Delco or Bosch. Don't cheap out here.

If possible I would start by going back to your stock PCM tuning to see if that corrects it. I had a chip done and my fan now comes on at about 140 where without it it comes on at about 170. (Jet Switch controled) The chip wasn't suppose to effect that at all but what can I tell you, it does. Maybe you have a simillar bug with your PCM tuning?

i once heard on this board that the Bosch sensors dont work as "fast" as the AC Delcos. i guess the Delcos relay data faster so the computer can make more accurate fuel adjustments for better fuel ecomony. so lets say the Delcos take 200 exhaust readings/sec.. the Bosch might only take 50 readings/sec. i just made those numbers up but you get the idea.

I don't see how that can happen, I mean the computer is what counts for readings/sec the o2 just reacts with the gases & the voltage changes accordingly, I don't see how it can change, maybe different material reacts faster? But they all use the same materials, I dunno too confusing

Some of my f-buddies and I have used the bosch sensors in the past, and had problems with them... they tend to get lazy a lot faster than the AC Delco band sensors. My friend just had his second set in a little over one year die on him, and I'm having to run an open loop program right now because my driver side Bosch O2 sensor is dead - definitely will replace them with the AC Delco O2 sensors.
