Angry Why can't I hit 13's???????!!

I'm getting sick as I'm reading sigs with cars with similar mods running mid 13's. My car completely stock ran a 14.7 (first time racing and no traction at all). After Mac headers, offroad pipe, catback exhaust, lt4 km, slp cai, and new plugs and wires, my best time was still sad....

1/4...14.2
MPH...95.95
60'....2.115

Yes, it was a really hot and humid day plus the track (Quaker City, Salem Ohio) has a rep for being uphill and giving bad times...but still!! The car has 81k and seems to be fine except for the crappy times. Does anybody have any suggestions what the problem can be?

I know how you feel.......just wait until it's cooler out, or try a different track...

I would say go on a much cooler day. The heat is terrible for the car.

well would those mods you saved .5 sec from your stock times. Thats actually not bad. consider if you would have ran 14.1-14.0 stock you'll be in the mid 13's. Wait till late oct. and you'll see.

i felt just like you, after 3 runs the last time i went to the track and i had ran a 14.1, 14.07, and a 14.01, then i finally ran a 13.996 by lowering the air pressure some more, after letting my car cool and the temp got cooler in the evening, i busted a 13.90 @ 98.36mph, next time go to the track when its a little cooler and im sure you'll be in the 13.s

Are you the guy with the green Camaro with the hood and spoiler by any chance?

Anyway...it looks like you could use some gears, and if your still running the stock programming you definately need it tuned!

Your car is trapping worse than a stock car, et would be ok for a stock car in those conditions. 14.7 is just horrible, stock my car with 2.25 was still doing 9.1s in the /8 at about 78 in heat. Your trap speed indicate your down on power.

Yea I agree that your trap speed is way too low, something seems wrong....I usually trap at 102 and change with headers and exhaust...haven't gotten any new times with my SS hood and intake, but you should be trapping much higher than 95.95, I trapped 99 on a day with 100% humidity and about 80-85 degrees...

No, that's not me. What can possibily be giving me such a slow trap speed? Maybe a bad sensor or something?

Try getting it tuned. Bryan from www.pcmforless.com can help you out, that should take care of the low trap. He's cheap and alot of guys on here and other f-body sites use him, including me!

Track conditions play a huge roll too though maybe less track prep was done.
My old 95 Z ran a 14.0 @ 98 on a hot August day. with bals Eagle ST tires.. that was bone stock just a K&N.

Then i put SLP CAI, SLP dual out driver side exhaust, descreened MAF, 17" Y2K Vette wheels and ran a 14.3 as my best on a cooler day. OOOHHH!!! was i pissed off..

I figured it was track conditions, and i had harder coumpound tires.

I was racing at a flat track but i'm at about 900ft above sea lvl, i'm sure a higher alt than you are

Would a tune be beneficial without a cam? I already have a fan switch and the hidden shift perfomance button. I don't want to waste the money if it won't help any. Thanks again.

I got the car in March 2001. I tried to have it scanned at Autozone a few times, and every time it had a "connect error". The guy said it's hard to get a 1995 to scan with their equipment.
