Angry Why am I having clearancing issues with the CSI waterpump???

O.k. here's the deal. Yesterday I finished buttoning up the motor from my cam install and got finished wiring the CSI electric waterpump and filled the radiator with coolant. I turn the ignition on and the CSI pops the fuse right away. I check all connections and they are correct and good. Did it a few more times and it kept popping the fuse right away. Well I called Summit techline and he said it is either a bad pump or it is binding up. I yank everything back off and the damn pump blades are hitting the inside of the waterpump housing!!! I thought this was a bolt in deal? Do I have to clearance the inside of the pump to make this work? On the other hand, the freeze plug I installed in the front for the old gear drive was slightly leaking. How do I get a leak free seal? Thanks for any help as I am getting very frustrated!

The very same thing happened to me except that I found the problem while test fitting the pump. I got my first CSI pump from summit in a repackaged box like it had been opened before. This pump also had a problem with its impeller hitting the inside of housing.

The replacement pump I received from Summit fit fine and had no problem with it.

Sounds like you got the freeze plug in the wrong location. The freeze plug must be installed from the inside to outside.

As for the binding up, maybe the fan blade is setting farther out than normal. If anything it should not do that.

Here is a good picture of how far out they stick out.
