I talked to Phil a tech with Dynatech today on the phone about this OPTI they make and also questioned him about MSD. He regularly talks to MSD and they do not think it's worth the cost to setup factory production. MSD is into mass quantities. Dynatech is smaller scale and can afford to do this. So again I ask...has anyone considered the Dynatech? It's fully rebuildable, you can order parts for it, the sealing technology for the vented GenII OPTI is incredible. They are almost done with the GenI OPTI.
Why would the guy trying to sell you a $700 opti spark tell you MSD is going to produce one for half the price, or course he will say they can't do it. If MSD only made high volume products, why do they make a Flathead Ford distrubutor? Kudos to Dynatech for producing a distributor, next, they need to ship it and they will be the first out there with one. However, I wouldn't consider them a reliable source of information on MSD distributors.

Remember the title of this post.

Lightbulb

Has anyone besides me noticed that MSD recently came out with a dist. replacement for the FLATHEAD FORD ? Which went out of production in 1953.
If they can do that they can do a Opti replacement !

The cam does have the gear on it, since it also drives the oil pump.

Also, there is another option, drill the hole and use the low profile distributor back there. There was an LT4 featured in GMHTP that runs this setup.

MSD needs to make this before winter so I don't have to slap another opticrap on my new motor

i'd buy one, even with my opti still working fine.

i am a beliver in insurance, "save now, loose later"

i want a part that i can depend on when i am not near the house.

and msd has such a good warrenty program, "unwritten lifetime"

and they really do it, they have fixed a msd box and a boost retard box for me, and didnt charge!
