how good are the NGK TR55 plugs? do they help with performance or not. what other plug is out there thats better. has anybody tried the platinum TR55's or the iridium let me know how they worked out

 

I just use regular NGK TR55s. They work fine and dandy for me. Your not gonna really notice any "gains" from plugs. it's just a mod that's gonna help u NOT loose horsepower

 

are 55's stock heat range ?

what would one get if one wanted a slightly cooler plug?

 

then you would go to a TR6...

I have long discontinued my use of NGK spark plugs.
Had one crack and break on my while doing a burn out on the staging lane.
Had multiple plugs back out of my heads.
Had a couple of the tips on them back off.

Switched to Autolites.. Been smiling ear to ear ever since.

 

NGK here for 7 years. Never had any problems like above. sounds like they were not installed properly if they back out.

 

I've had nothing but the best of luck with NGK's myself. Been using them in everything for years.

 

hahahha..........I had NGK's on my car for a total of 4 minutes. Took it down the hill and nailed it. Blew the motor. So I'm wondering if that was a sign.

 

so i can do heads and cam, tranny, rear end, but not a spark plug change if you do a search that is a problem that has happened to several people that use NGK's.. im not the first

 

ive had NGK and Autolite........both seemed the same to me

 

I use the Autolite 104 plugs. They run clean. I used to use the TR-55 with no luck. After a trip into town they would foul and my car would feel sluggish.

A friend of mine told me to buy the Autolites. After I switched I was telling him how much cleaner they run and he told me a story about a motor he dynoed. He said it was an all out big block that used NGK race plugs. He changed to the Autolite non-resistor plug and the motor gained 4 HP. That is a good bit of power for a plug change.

 

Been using them since 98. They work good for me personally. Never had a problem. Hoever that's all I have used since I bought the car so I can't compare they to anything.

 

Never had a problem with my NGK TR-55's..................they are nice.
