Who says LT1's aren't strong....

Finally did some serious racing this weekend....did good and bad. Seems like I can't find third gear a lot of the time.. Well the old girl saw 7000+rpm about five times this weekend. No noticable signs of damage and still running fine...so far. Guess GM built a pretty tough motor!! By the way...driving lessons needed..

unless you're mechanically overrevving it, your rev limiter (assuming that worthless hypertech chip didnt remove it) will stop the motor long before 7000rpm

OK...you must not have read the first post....pay attention dude. They were missed-shifts that caused the over revving. I try to shift at around 6000 but I keep missing third for some reason all of a sudden.

Without a cam, you are shifting way too high. Your peak power is @ 5250-5300rpm with your setup. I would shift about 5600-5700rpm.

Thanks...I'll try shifting at a little lower RPM. I have heard of the 5.0 shifter. I made a post in the drivetrain forum but no one has responded. All of a sudden when I go to shift into 3rd it hangs up in neutral. It has a Hurst short throw shifter on it now....don't know if there is any adjustment that can be made or not. Is the 5.0 that much better....or do iI just need a new driver?

Why is it set for 7,000 ???? Look at my sig, I have mine set to 6,000 and even that is probably to high... I've hit 6k many many times with no problems to date, but still its a high risk to take. 7k

Check this link: 93 Specific Info Thread

The 93 F-Body did not get a 3.42 rear. If you had the M29 coded M6, you got a 3.23 rear. The M28 tranny got the 2.73 rear.

Whatsup, On another note, have you checked out the speed density F-Body forum?? Speed Density LT1 Forum Good people, good info, not as packed, 93 F-Car specific. You may like it.

3.23's were used with the M29 tranny. 3.42's were not used until 1994 with the MN6.

Not really. The M28 with the 2.73 is going to act like a car with a 2.73, but the M29 with the 3.23 is actually a steeper overall ratio than the 94+ with the 3.42 gearset. The M29 tranny was a Viper Spec tranny that GM bought off of Chrysler when Borg Warner didn't have the initial batch of F-Body spec T-56's ready when the cars went into production. If you look at the ZO6 Vette, the T-56 in that has nearly the same gearing at the M29 from 93.
