Now 9 second times are always impressive but lets face it, most of us dont have 9 second cars nor ever will. i thought it would be interesting to hear some times from the guys working on a budget, horsepower for dollar.my car has a total investment of about 2800 into it including the cost of the car and im running 13.6, who else is turning good times with a cheap car?

Best way to do that.... gut the car to make it light and make the SOB hook. There is 12's in it that way.

That's what I ws going to post. Add some lightness if you want to go fast on a budget.

headers seem to be the best power maker to throw on a stock car, initially and down the road. I would start there...then CAI and some Nitrous...pray the rear holds up

Not sure what you would consider good times but I ran a 13.2 @ 107 with the following mods:

Hypertech, 4.10's, K&N, Kenny Brown DD SFC, Lakewood LCA, Spohn Relocation brackets, Centerforce clutch, and Firehawk 285/40/17's, and a whole lot of practice.

Granted my car is a Firehawk so it already came with a good intake, exhaust, and shifter.

i really like the n2o route for what it costs. Back when my car was stock it ran 14.00's@97mph then with the addition of a dry n2o kit, put together myself ($250), CAI, and a flowmaster, the car ran 12.60's@110mph on street radials. Recently I put some n2o on a friends 01 4.6 Mustang ,the car is alomst bone stock, x-pipe exhaust with flowmasters and Nittos. No headers, stock 3.27 gears, stock clutch etc.. Brought it to the track and ran 14.30@99mph N/A and (150NX) 12.60@110mph spinning. I loaned him some old ET streets and the car ran 1.70 60', 12.18@111mph. The guy has under $1,000 in high perfromance parts but he has good help. Later Clint

how about 13.4 @ 106 with no $ in mods.

Bought the car with a K&N filter and I cut the airbox open and cut off the exhaust where a normal cutout would go and thats it. $50 nitrous kit and a 75 shot later it was running 12.8 @ 112.

How bout that?

Back in 1996 these were my mods and times:

Mac shorties, cutout, !cat, Callaway cold air intake, free mods, transgo stage II shift kit, Fastchip, and 1.6 rockers with LT4 springs. I was running 13.3s.
