I even remember the miles/gallons too because I DAMN NEAR ran out of gas in Georgia on I-185 looking for a gas station!

395 miles and right over 15 gallons = 26.333 mpg!
26 is completely possible, like i said mine gets 21-21 driving very conservative hell 28 is possible in my book with the right driving and conditions, but 33 and what did someone else say 36? not believable but hey say what you will, i don't see 5-8mpg over the stock mileage numbers happening

26 is completely possible STOCK - thats what my factory window sticker says, which my car did better than even when it was stock. EPA doesnt rate our mileage after they install longtube headers and a 3" straight through exhaust with no cats.

look at the difference in these two parts. if you dont think those stock manifolds are a choke point for a small block chevy, look again.

dont say its not possible if you have no way of proving it didnt happen. this weekend i drove 150 miles, on 4.5 gallons. do the math yourself if you want. i even went wide-open-throttle on the on ramp. if i wanted to lie about my car to help my self esteem or something id at least lie about my quarter mile times - which as you can see in the sig im not..

i agree, i have to do 75 at minimum to get the most out of the 3.42 gear. it seems awfully happy at 80.

My car back when it just had a CAI and a 2800 converter got 35mpg on a night time trip up to my cousin's house averaging 105mph, lol. Don't ask me how, but it did. Filled up before I left and again about 3.5 hours in to the trip at 357miles and only put 10 gallons in the car. It was only a 420 miles trip so I could have made it on one tank, lol.

Why do you not think it is possible? See my post above this one.

I get 25mpg with my mods. Every one that hears my car thinks it really sucks the gas and when I say 25mpg they say BS.

I have to say Im with Car Enthusiast, theres no way your getting 33mpg and 35mpg. you had to have skrewed up when you filled up. Ive seen my friend do it in his honda. he filled the car to where it automaticly turns off the pump, then kept "topping" it off untill it was coming out the filler tube. then drove 400 miles and refilled. but when he refilled he simply stopped filling once the pump autmaticly shut off the nozel, no topping off. this will EASILY throw your results off.

The only way to get true mileage is to run the car outa gas and then poor in a known amount and run it outa gas again.

36mpg is laughable especially at 100+ lol I about fell outa my chair when I read that. Im betting most of you are getting around 28 MAYBE 30 but thats it, the rest of the "fluff" is in the fill procedure or your just swinging your E-****

I got 33 before did anything to the car. Driving on the highway with a m6, at ~80 you sit right at 1800 rpm. If all you are doing is highway, it's possible.

I was stock with a 6speed an 3.42 gears and the best I EVER got was 27 and Im in a thirdgen which should be lighter than most 4ths. I was running a 97 OBD2 sequential setup but have since switched to an OBD1 PCM so Im pretty sure that changed it back to bank firing.

Also how can you say you get better mileage with larger engines and bigger injectors? youve increased your displacement and increased the amount of fuel dumping into the engine at EVERY RPM. I just cant see how using more fuel accross the board equates to better MPG. Since Ive done my heads and cam, installed the wideband and tuned it im not getting anywere near 27mpg. im ussually around 20-24 highway and 14-16 around town.

i filled up to the same spot both times, but lets say i had .2 of a gallon "fluff" i still got 31.9 mpg.

I had this mileage multiple times after I bought the car on long trips. 33 was only highway driving.

.2 is extemely liberal. I know if both my cars once it shuts off I can get almost another 3/4 gallons in there. Im not saying good gas milage isnt possible but 33+ is a little out there..... next time your doing the fill ups video tape the filling procedure, gallons and miles and do the same once you refill again. plus do it at the same gas station to get accurate results... thats the only way ill even remotely believe it......
