Who has done true duals with cats ?

I know it is tricky on our cars but I am thinking of doing it this way and be done with the exaust ordeals forever.

what did it cost you ?

Can I use anything besides bullets for mufflers?

Details ....

I saw Trey was going to do this ... did he yet?

What I did, is have 2 exhaust setups.

Originally, I had Hooker LT's, a custom y-pipe with dual cutouts right after the collectors, then a regular 3" cat back.

I took the dual cutout y-pipe down and put in a dual cat y-pipe up to pass emissions. I can put it back up with no problem.

For performance, I had the usual true dual exhaust put on. I just swap between the two, although I'll probably put the cat'ed exhaust back up during the winter so it doesn't rattle my brains out with all the reverb.

Maybe you could stick a cat on each side before the x-pipe on a true dual setup. Depends on how low you mind having the thing hang.

Well I wanted to be legal and be done with my exhaust woes, it seems everytime I redue mine, I want something different, I've got mine stopped before the axle, but I am going to redue mine to go over them and out the back. I really won't redue just simply add. Here are some pics, its very easy to do, I used soundcats which are very high flowing and cheap on ebay brand new. As far as mufflers, you can put anything you want down there it just depends on what sound you want and how much clearance your willing to live with. Are you planning to stop at the axle or go all the way out http://community.webshots.com/album/79485783kIzaYY

I don't know about every state, but it's also illegal to have your exhaust exit in front of you rear axle

Just somthing to keep in mind

there are plenty of people that have done it, but most agree its not necesary. I bought some flex pipe and ran them over the axle out the back, listened and took them off and took the pipes back cause the sound difference was so small, plus the extra weight and moving the rubber brake lines is not worth it. I don't notice any smell in my car with them stopping at the axle and I have a convertible. The only advatage to running over the axle to me is watching the exhaust fumes leave the car out the back and seeing nice pipes. Personally on my formula the bumper looks great without having exhaust tips, plus no exhuast gives it an agressive look. Alsothe price is very high to go out the back, unless you buy the flex pipe.
