Who DD a comp xfi 280?
i went with the comp cams 305 since my motor is using stock heads and i dont wanna have to modify everything and i dont wanna have a huge cam.... its a .510 .510 lift cam and with my 1.6 roller rockers its a .544 .544...list the info on your cam brother!
My wife's convertible had 11:1 compression, LT4 heads (untouched), LT's/ORY, 4.10's and basic bolt ons. We ran the Comp XR282. It's a great daily cam that has a good sound and decent manners. Specs on it are 230/236@.050, 110 LSA and .510/.520 on a 1.5 or .544/.554 with a 1.6 (which is what we were running). I'm sure you could probably go a bit larger on the cam but for a daily, this thing worked out great for us.
By looking at the XFI cam you are talking about, the specs are pretty much the same except for LSA (110 vs 113) and lift which is a bit more:
Duration at .050: 230° Intake / 236° Exhaust
Valve Lift w/1.6 Rockers: .576'' Intake / .570'' Exhaust
Lobe Separation Angle: 113°
I'd say the cam would probably work pretty well and should be very easy to tune since it's on a 113. Honestly, the 110 was pretty easy, too.

I use to daily drive mine until I lost my lisence. I think I got about 10-15,000 on it. You will deffinatly need a stall and gears. I still get about 25 avg miles per gallon when i drive it reasonable. Aganst what most said when I was asking about this cam, I think its a good dd/drag cam. For a well thought out small ci engine. I personally would have went with the next bigger cam, Not really sure on the number but maybe 282 or 290.
I'd go with the cc503 or something similar if you drive it a lot. If you had 4.10 gears and can handle some rough running my opinion might change. I am not particularly a fan of the xfi lobes, they are rpm limited by valve control rather than their ability to move air through the engine. Also once you start to cross 230 degrees of duration in a 350/355 the drivability starts to get kind of ratty unless you have a stalled auto or low gears to soak up the rough running from the engine. The 503 will make good power to 6200 and drive really well. I drove a very similar cam for a long time every day with an auto and it was completely streetable.
thats what i have seen and there are alot of ppl using it. also what about lloyds cam 226/230 .565/.565 111 LSA. its supposed to be a reground 503 but make about 15 hp more. how will this drive daily? thanks guys im learning alot
since you are running a 355 i would lean towards the XFI cam or something bigger than the 503. the only reason i say this is because two months after you get it running you will want bigger. i have the xfi 280 in a 383 and you cant even tell it has a cam in it, works good for a daily driver but a couple months after i installed it and had it tuned i wished i had gone way bigger.
I like mine, It runs well, decent gas mileage, I get tons of compliments about the sound, and once I get it dyno tuned it should get me into the high 11's.
