Question White Sludge?

I was putting some oil in my car this afternoon and I noticed on the inside of the filler neck and oil cap there was the white sludge. Only way I can describe it is to say it looked like vanilla yogurt. This has only happened since it has gotten cold in the last week. Any ideas?

That is what happens when water and oil mix in your engine but in this case it is caused by condensation. If it is on your dip stick then you need to worry. Both my truck and my camaro do it, I believe it is becasue of the plastic filler extension coming off the valve cover. As long as you are not seeing it on the dipstick I don't think you have much to worry about but it is on the dipstick it could be a head gasket. Hope this helps.

Oil on the dipstick looked fine and the coolant looked fine as well. I guess I will keep an eye on it.

It has gotten really cold as well as been very rainy here in the last week so I was thinking it might be a condensation issue.
