Whistling NOISE

While Im driving my car I have a Whistling noise coming from the engine area.. Its typically when I dont give the car gas, Once I give gas it goes away, I have listened to everything possible and looked for any airleak possible.. I cant find it.. It sounds like its coming from the top/rear of the engine..

Re: Whistling NOISE

probably from your throttle body.

mine use to sound like i had a blower... i took a dremel and cleaned up the throttle body and it fixed it.

Re: Whistling NOISE

I agree that aftermarket TBs are often the culprit, especially at the IAC port (which would make the most noise at light or no throttle).

In your case, since the noise seems to be coming from somewhere else, a vacuum leak could be the culprit.

Re: Whistling NOISE

Guess I should take the throttle body of and grind on it some. I just put it on about a month ago but only drive the car about once a week so that could be the problem. Thanks! Anyother ideas?

Re: Whistling NOISE

A vacuum leak would be more obvious when you are not on the throttle (vacuum is higher).

Re: Whistling NOISE

Did you install an aftermarket t-body?

Did you adjust the Idle Screw?

Open the throttle blades more by adjusting the screw and the problem should go away.

Trust me, i've had two cars that did it.

Did you say Top Rear? How about the Breaks Power booster? disconect the hose at the booster... plug the hose...run the engine and listen for the hissing sound... if gone then you have your little devil...
