Whistling & Hesitation Problems

Over the weekend i installed a trick flow elbow and a K&N cai. I also cleaned the MAF. The car ran great all day Sunday. Today, start it up and leave the sub, drives fine. As soon as i hit 2500 rpm i heard a loud whistling sound in each gear. I stop at a light with it in neutral and my rpms are unusually low at 500 (normally at 800-1000). When i go to take off the car wants to die, I kept having to work the clutch and rev it up to keep the car going. I didn't have to stop till I got to work, but the car had a consistant hesitation and continued to whistle while driving. Seemed to idel fine when I parked. Didn't have time to investigate cause i had to get in to work.

I have done some searches about the whistling and know that i need to check all my clamps and fittings throughout the air intake.

I am just confused as to why it started to run like crap. I have replaced the cap and rotor, plugs, and wires all within the last few months. I just put on a MSD blaster coil last week.

Any suggestions about what to check are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

No SES light? First of all check, that air is not getting to throttle body in a way different, then through MAF: elbow still in place, no leaks, etc.

Re: Whistling & Hesitation Problems

I finally got to the problem First off, the whistling was my cold air intake, just needed to retighten everything. Never got the SES light because the bulbs not working. My other problem was the car surging and sputtering, basically running like crap. Fuel pressure was only at 10 psi. Put in the Racetronix kit, brought up to 41 psi. Start it up ran great, till it warmed up. Ran better, but still large lack of power.

Took it to a friend who manages an auto shop. Had it scanned, all the sensors were reading right. I had bought some NGK-TR55 two weeks ago and just had the shop put them in for me. The current plugs and wires are only 4 months old but they're the bosch dual tip ones and i've heard a lot of bad about them.

Turns out the insulation on the number 6 wire had been burned through cause of the header. They patched the wire and wraped it with some extra heat shield wrap laying around.

Car runs great now

My friend said that the other wires are about to do the same thing, so i need to get some good insulated plug wires. Thinking about going with an OVC kit. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the long post, just happy that my car is running great again. I also wanted to give the answer to what my problem was. To many times i can never find any posts when a problem was fixed.
