whining noise.
whining noise.
Few days ago there was a good rain and a portion of the road I was on had flooded over, and I couldn't avoid it since I saw it too late. After though, I noticed a high pitch whining sound. This is an intermittent noise. Almost always hear it on start up, but when i'm going it seems to either be there whining, or it's simply gone. If the noise is being made, and I shut the car off you can hear the noise after the car is off.
Simply have no idea what it could be.. was thinking it might be a pulley, but that would get eliminated since the noise happens intermittently and after the car is shut off. Any ideas?

Re: whining noise.
How long does the sound continue after you switch the ignition to off? Could be the fans spinning down on shutoff. But then the fans shouldn't be running unless the A/C is on, or the coolant temp is above 226*F.
Re: whining noise.
Now that you mention it.. I've had a problem lately where neither of my fans shut off.. they run constantly as long as the car is going. Doesn't matter if the A/C is on/off or if it's just trying to cool the engine.
Re: whining noise.
Then you probably need to scan the car to see if you have any trouble codes. Most turn the fans on and that might be what you are hearing (just more, now, since you might have gotten them overly wet).
