where is return line on 700R4?

I have an aftermarket transmission cooler (fins with tubing) and fan mounted flat behind the radiator fans under my car. Last year I developed a leak in the return line and a "quick fix" was to plug it off. The leak happened during elimination rounds at the track and I didn't really have any other opions at the time.

Well, I forgot all about it until last week when I noticed a small drip under my car.

I squeezed underneath and found that the guy who patched it up for me had taken a piece of flexible hose and a couple of hose clamps and put a plug and a piece of tubing on the end of the cooler and just pinched it off. Fine for a quick fix but far from a long term solution.

I figured I just needed a new piece of hose, some silicon, and a couple of new clamps and it would be good as new but I cannot locate where the line needs to go on the transmission.

I am assuming the cooler is not doing anygood at all with simply an input line but no output (no flow).

So my question is: "Where on a 700R4 does the return line go to?"

The cooling lines come out of the right side of the transmission just above where the dipstick tube and the TV cable enter.

Thank you. There is more than one line?

There is two lines. One takes the fluid from the tranny to the cooler and the other one takes the fluid from the cooler back to the tranny. That one is the return line.

Not sure on the 700R4, but on the Turbo 350, the top line is the return line. My guess is the 700R4 is the same.

Thank you very much. I will open the tranny blanket and see what I can find.
