Where to put cutout

I am gonna be buying a dmh cutout and I want to have a shop install it and weld it in for me. Where should i put it? I am only getting one for now. I have stock headers, ypipe, and cats are intact. I have the corsa exhaust. I want the thing to roar and work good. I was thinking about putting it right at the end of the y-pipe. I probably will upgrade the headers and ypipe buti really dont want to cut up my corsa if at all possible.

I also have a clearance issue on my driveway so it cant go down more than an inch past the rest of the stuff.

I heard that the cutout, when closed makes the original sound of the exhaust quieter, is this true?

Re: Where to put cutout

Doesn't really matter, as long as it's before the catalytic converter.

There are installation instructions on www.dmhperformance.com, install it in the i-pipe under the rear passenger seat.

I put mine just before the bend in the muffler. I found that it dosen't resonate off the ground and the underbody of the car as much. Only really loud when you stand on it.

Put mine right after the y pipe, the thing sounds awesome, when I idle through a parking lot people turn and just back out of the way (headers and cutom y pipe with high flow cats)

you have dual cats, so the ypipe ends under around your back seats or so, you could put it right before the pipe bends to go over the axle for maximum clearance, its either that or midstream of the I pipe.

That's where mine is, and it's no lower than the rest of the exhaust. Run the wire for the cut-out through the floor, there's a plug in the bottom of each passanger seat that you can remove and run the wire up and then through the interior to your dash or where ever you want the switch.
