Where is my power?
Where is my power?
This year, I decide to fix up my baby just because when I accleratation of my 94 firebird formula was very weak. After installing a new spark plug, spark plug wires, coil, opti spark, and MAC Mid length headers, it is still running the same but sound really nice. Where is my power? Yesterday I got my car back from the shop because I installed the a new 2800 tci torque converter and it made a difference but I am not please yet. Seems that my car is not at full power when I acclerate my gas. Any idea.... Do I need a tune up? Any advice will do.
I am not giving up on her!

Yes, it revs much easier.
Mileage: 80,500
Mods: K&N Filter, Mac Mid-length Headers, BOCH Spark plug, ACCEL 8.0 Spark Plug wires, TCI 2400-2800 Torque Converter, Trans Cooler, new coil and optispark.
Driving my car yesterday for the first time for 3 month, I couldn't even tell that I had those mod installed. Accept for the MAC Headers. Sounds really really good. But I am very disappointed when I am accelerating at 30+ and I floor the car. The car takes a long time to open up....
Maybe I need a dyno tune. What does that do to my car?

I dunno if you need it, but its to eliminate false knock that can be caused by headers. the pcm would pull timing due to the false knock and kill some power. Now I dunno if you're getting false knock or not. its about $40 or so i think. it'll replace the LT1 knock module.
Yes, you need an LT4 knock module pretty much any time you go with aftermarket exhaust on an LT1. (Actually a lot of stock LT1s even need the LT4 KM). The LT1 knock module was overly sensitive and will retard timing at the drop of a hat. More exhaust sound will just aggravate this. The LT4 KM will allow a lot more "nosie" before pulling timing.
Install is very easy, just pull the ECM out (don't even need to disconnect it), remove the little square cover on the back and there is the module.
As to hearing knock, you shouldn't actually hear it. That's the whole point of the knock sensor, it detects knock before it is ever advanced enough for you to hear.
