Question Where to get Factory Service Manual

I'm getting ready to take apart the valvetrain and do replacement over the winter. i know i have to take off misc. parts like the alternator, belts, FSTB just to get at the heads, but i need a Factory Service Manual to know the right torque specs on everything, and do it all properly. Where can i purchase one of these, or who on the forums sells them for LT1 engines?

You can buy the manual from GM, however it runs about $90.00. with the ABS supplement. I have both the factory service manual and a Helms manual. The factory service manual is hard to beat, it contains procedures and drawings to do just about anything to an LT1. I was lucky and purchased mine from a CZ28 member for I think 30.00 new. Good Luck.

These two terms have always been used to describe the same manual.

Brand new, the factory manual is $120, but the 1995 is not even available online at the moment. http://helminc.com

If you hurry, you might be able to get a used set for $75 here (though, I noticed that it said 2 volumes. There is a separate supplement that covers the midyear 3.8V6 that would be the third volume):
http://www.factoryautomanuals.com/ca...tomer/home.php I bought my used set from them a few years ago.

There are other places on the 'net that sell used manuals. Try a search with Google.

[edit] I was typing as jim88iroc305 was posting .

Look again on Ebay. there is usually someone selling a CD version of the books. I got mine and at the same time there were a few others selling a CD also. These are easier to deal with also.
