Where to find good long blocks
Where to find good long blocks
I'm looking for a good quality well built LT1 383 long block to buy outright from a good shop. I know of Golen long blocks and have read good and alot of bad using the search function. Can anyone point me in the right direction to alternative shops specializing in Lt1 longblocks? I know I could use a local builder, but my block is cracked and it's getting hard to find good used blocks locally. Thanks

That's good info. I've been on the fence about either repairing my lt1 (blown head gasket) or just getting a new engine. I saw that guy on ebay and wondered whether it was quality stuff...the one I saw was just over 2k I think. Very tempting...
I would avoid anyone offering chinese cast cranks like Eagle. They are weaker than stock.
If not doing a performance build I would look at a junkyard motor. I have seen way too many badly rebuilt LT1s. Lower compression, weaker cranks, cheap pistons with 20 year outdated ring packages.
