Where does the rpm guage get its signal from?

1993s being different, it comes from the tach filter that is taped in the engine harness. It's a white wire. The filter is connected back to the white wire at the coil). All other years, the tachometer is driven by a lead from the PCM.

Thanx Rob.
Do you have a pic?
I cut the white wire from the ignition module and connected it to the LTCC.

I am having the same issue. I have the LTCC and am trying to hook up my tach now so I just assumed it would be the same white "trigger" wire the LTCC uses. When I hook it up it does move the Tach needle just usually in the negative range while the rest do nothing. I hooked up every wire out there and nothing. Do I need to hook up the the opti pigtail or where the coil wires hook into the LTCC over where the stock coil was. PS I have a 97 so it has different color wires for the LTCC.
Maybe I have fried my tach. If everything else fails I will have to hook it up to the PCM harness, just dont want to have to get that out and run a wire over there.
I have to find this wire as I am going to be hooking up a window switch next.

C230, cavity "D", white wire. It is inside passenger compartment, so you don't have to run any wires outside.

Rob.... you've really got to stop believing all that GM propaganda, like wiring diagrams, exploded diagrams, manuals, etc that you have posted on your website..... that's just for gullible people like you and me.

Thank you,,, you are a life saver, I wish I would have just sucked it up and made this post 2 days ago instead of beating a dead horse. Thank you again for posting the diagram, tach works great now!
