Where do you have your cutout welded

Where do you have your cutout welded? I have pace setter LTs, ORY and the magnaflow CB exhaust. where would you reccomend that I have a cutout welded in. right after the header collecter, cut out of the Y pipe? What do you think, before or after the cat? Also, one or two cutouts?

Thanks

:-d

A single cutout right before the axle is a good spot.

dual 3" flo-tecs just behind the collectors

It gave me 10 ft bls of torque vs capped on the dyno @ GForce. That was stock cubed, AFR-210s, custom ported LT4 intake, yada yada yada. With the 396 I'm anxious to see and hear the difference capped & uncapped.

Wow, 10ft pounds, thats quite a gain for a cutout. I think that I will go with one right after the collector, so the sound will be as loud as possible.

Forgot to mention it was with a GM-847 cam, I have two good videos stationery behind the bumper capped and uncapped but they are 10 megs each and not sure where I could get those hosted. If you or anyone knows shoot me a pm

No clue on where to get it hosted. Do you think it would sound too raspy if i did it before the cat? Im thinking about not even using cats...i dont know.
suggestions

Does having the dual cutouts behind the header rattle your interior to death?

If anything I'd think ahead of the cats would be better, kind of depends on the rest of the setup. This was through longtube Jethots, custom ypipe obviously, no CAT much less CATS (plural) through Borla wide open no plate. When she was stock cammed with the longtubes which I installed after the Borla install it was indeed raspy, but Borla is like that with no cats, not as bad as Loudmouth but still raspy, the 847 cam solved that like night and day along with the 1.7 RRs pushing .611/.632 lift, hope this helps a little

Umm dude yeah it is nuts, like dragster nuts with a good cam, but I love that, it's ok at the track, fun in my parking garage now and then but no way for "all the time" cruising. The vibration is fierce but not like you'd think, not falling apart kind of rattle, it's a sickening good feeling

I'm not mild, so I don't care basically, love the thunder and cam lope all in sync, especially at the track, was impressed with the torque gains and just flat out can't wait to here what it sounds & runs like with the 396 stroker and a solid roller .690+ lift cam.

yeah it could be done.............just cut off part of the y-pipe too

If i went outside RIGHT now and cut off the back of my cut-out (end that is pointing towards the motor.........and cut off some of the y-pipe, there would possibly be enough room for a bullit muffler.

Try it, however..........the point of a cut-out is to be able to go from street legal to street lethal in a matter of a few bolts (or the flip of a switch)

However i drive with my cut-out off everyday and its not bad......i just pull a grandma off of lights (rarely EVER sees above 2k daily driving with the cut-out off........dont wanna attract too many cops........i.e.--illegal tint, inspection sticker just went out...and cant get a new one until my tint is compliant, and illegal exhaust)

but with it on its purrs through the stock cat-back..........sounds like a stock car with just a slightly better muffler, then when i get on it.......it roars nicely.

My advice..........just stick with the cut-out and no bullit muffler

Re: Where do you have your cutout welded

Mine is on the back end of my off-road y pipe toward the muffler, which was actually perfect when I put in the electronic cutout plate the whole in the floor to go into the interior is right there.

Cam + Cutout is fun for those nights when you want to get noticed. Don't bother with two cutouts right after the collectors, the gains in my opinion would be minimal.
