Where do I get a 400 Balancer for my 383 LT1????
I need to get a balancer that will bolt up to my 383 Lt1 so that I can have it balanced. I can't find one anywhere, anyone here have a 383 and can tell me what to do because my engine is about 300 grams off in the front and I need to use the 400 balancer if I can find one. The LT1 balancer is too light.

What crank are you using? I have used the neutral balancer (after balancing) on both the Eagle and the Scat cast steel cranks.
Actually it's a neccessity to get it neutral balanced in the font, it may cost a little more on the balancing, but it saves some headache.

it sounds like you got the wrong crank, you should have got an internal balance crank, 300 grams is a lot, I had to add 42 grams to the front of mine and 86 to the back and thats a big slug I had to put in there.

I got the eagle cast steel crank 1 piece seal internal balance crank, maybe I was sent the wrong one or something? It was from summit and I have a T-56. I was thinking they could fill the balancer with wieghts and then what's left put into the crank. I think I got the right one, everything fits and it's internally balanced with holes drilled etc.

Well here's the link, right crank. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...orig=1&FROM=MG and I'm using PM Rods and Hyper pistons which might be the reason it's so light on the front end. So what's my best bet?

Sorry, but you have an external balance crank. It may say internal balance, but this is the last line in the item overview.
Notes: Requires Chevy 400 harmonic balancer and use of stock flexplate.
It probably has enough weight in it to not need the ofset weighted 400 flexplate, but it still needs the 400 style balancer. Unless you can get a custom balancer made, your screwed. No way you can make that work in an LT1.

Well if there's no way why the hell does summit advertise as:
Stroker Crankshaft Yes
Make CHEVROLET
Engine Type V8
Liter 5.7
CID 350
Engine Size 5.7L/350
Beginning Year 1992
Ending Year 1997
Engine Family Chevy small block Gen II (LT-based engines)
Rod Length 5.700 in.
Crankshaft to Flywheel Attachment 6-bolt
Application Notes Fits stroker applications only.
and If this won't work, where can I get a true Internal balanced crank for the LT1 from eagle or whoever that will work with the stock balancer, I'll just ship this one back to summit and buy the other one.

I think summit has the wrong description just like alot of their items, found the same item on ebay, same part number etc. and it says
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy...QQcmdZViewItem
Use 350 balancer. but this part number on summit says 2 pc seal and he claims 1 pc seal.?????????? WHo's wrong here?

This is the only other crank that I have found that's even close to what I need but claims to be only for gen 1 cars til 86, all the specs seem the same though, who knows, I don't think I can trust summit anymore.

Whatever you guys used, please let me know, whoever used a cast steel crank, post a link to the crank you used and I'll just buy that one so that I don't have to go through hell. Thanks

I used a Lunati 1 piece rear main seal internally balanced crank forged crank. Though I'm told it wasn't very well balanced from Lunati and required a decent amount of work.

Re: Where do I get a 400 Balancer for my 383 LT1????
so since my crank needs 300 grams in the front and the rear is the heaviest part, they could just take alot of metal out to even it up more and put in less heavy metal?
