That looks like a K&D spring compressor. I've used that kind before. I used that kind once to install springs on my LT1 w/engine in the car. I wasn't that impressed with it. It was o.k. but nothing to write home about. It doesn't work well with a single spring and a dampner and really won't work with a dual spring!

The one I now own (after using three different types) is the Moroso stud mount. Moroso

It works well with dual springs and reaches ALL cylinders! I love it. I think it is much easier than that K&D model.

I got the Moroso at Summit, if you want the K&D you can probably buy it at NAPA. I think I saw them there.

Ditto on Don's recommendation. That compressor will have a terrible time with dual springs. The Moroso unit is good, and there is a clone of the Moroso part made by Big End that costs a lot less. That's what I did my springs with. You have to dissasemble it to work on the back springs, but it does a good job.

Bah! Worked fine for my spring swap with flat inner springs. I agree that it won't work for dual spring with a round inner.

I did try the Proform and it was a POS. I assume the Moroso is a better unit.

The KD tools are available at most auto parts store.

Bah is right! I used the even cheaper lislie (sp) one from pep boys and it worked fine. Didn't even have those inner ears to keep it centered on the retainer. i just took two minutes to grind a lil angle onto the feet and it hasn't slipped since. I'm sure there are better ones, but it's not like i'm changing springs every week to justify spending a lot more money on something only slightly more user friendly when what i got works.
