Where did you get your slave cylinder at?

I'm hoping to start my McLeod install this weekend. I've posted a thread before about it and had many replies saying to replace rear main seal and slave cylinder while I'm in there. I called the local GM dealership and they said they get the master and slave together and they don't separate. Just curious where other people got theirs.

Thanks.

I got mine from NAPA for about $65.

I think KOI/Savage Auto had them too, but the actual part inside the box was the wrong style slave cylinder, even though it was the right part # on the box.

No, if you use their master cylinder, which I believe comes standard with the Street Twin now, all you need is a stock slave.

That's how what I'm using and it works great.

I'm not sure how you mcleod users do it but I know that GM sells the thing as a unit.. prefilled and prebled. I've heard that using an aftermarket slave is not a good idea. When I put in my star I just replaced the whole assembly.. no problems. BUT if you have to run an aftermarket slave for whatever reason (and I'm not sure you do.. or maybe you're supposed to use mcleod's slave) then you could get one from NAPA or autozone probably has it too.

Well i just got my mcleod rebuilt and on the torque spec sheet it said in BOLD you have to use a mcleod slave cylinder part number #######. It was also hilighted. I was just on the phone with mcleod and they also said you need a larger bore cylinder. I am just going by what the experts are saying.

Perhaps they did indeed change their directions, then.

Back when the McLeod master cylinder first came out (I think I was the first one to receive it), the main Street Twin guy there told me to use a stock slave cylinder with it.

The whole reason they released the master cylinder was because of the leaking problems with the slave cylinder mods.

So, maybe they have come out with a complete slave cylinder unit, that doesn't require R&R... ?

I talked to McLeod yesterday and he said that there is no slave upgrade yet and just to use a stock replacement. He did mention the rebuidable slave that they are working on which should be out this year.
