Question Where can I get a NEW Center Console?

I built a new center console and it was cool for a while but I would like to switch back to the stock unit. The only one I have found is from Year One and it is very pricy and you have to get it painted to match. So any places to get a new one other than the Dealer? I am going to call the Dealer but they wanted $50 for just the SHIFTER BOOT! So I am looking for other alternatives at this time. Thanks.

You might try Year Ones Next Generation catalog, but I am not sure they would have anything like that.
Might have to bite the bullet and order from GM, unless you can find one in the boneyard.

Question

Will that one work in a 1996 Formula? It looks slightly different than mine. Do you think it will bolt in mine? Thanks for the link.

No promises, but it SHOULD work.. If you have a M6 you should be fine. This console is off a 97+ firebird.. Thats when they started adding the 2nd cup holder in the front of the console.

You might want to email the seller and double check first

Question

Well to me it looks like the mounting locations are slightly different, not sure if the holes will line up correctly or not. The overall shape looks correct though. Does anyone else know if a 97+ console will work in a 96?

My firebird doesn't have the CD storage area like the Z28's so that is why I am concerned because they have some differences in the design. Thanks guys, keep them comming if you can.

Try on this site and others.

Go to wrecking yard, find one and have it painted.
(probably less expensive than new one).

You will probably have to buy a new shift boot holding ring at the dealer, since they break very easily.

Get genuine leather shift boot from Wheel Skins. It looks and feels so much better than the dawgahyde crap from the factory.

I did. And its the only good piece of leather in the whole damn car.JMHO

Or...I could send you my old stock shift boot if I can find it. It is gray and has a very small hole in it (came that way from SLP when I got my 97SS).
