Where can I get a custom grind cam done?

Ok i found the cam i want for my build up but the place that makes it only makes it for a retrofit roller block so who could grind me a cam to the same specs but for my LT-1. the cam im talking about is a trick flow part number TFS-31402001

Thanks

Why spend $425+ on a custom grind cam when you can just get a CC306? It has the same duration, just different lift #'s.

I can't think of a cam company that won't make custom grinds

Yeah, just call up Crane, Comp, or Lunati. Any of them will make you a custom cam, and it usually only takes a week or so.

Yes this is true but i like these lift numbers better and this cam produced better number on desktop dyno but, most importantly i dont want to be the 16,865th person on here to have the cc306. I just want something different and this cam made nice numbers on my pc

It all depends what you mean by "custom". Most "custom"' cams are simply a combination of lobes in the manufacurers lobe library ground to spec wrt LSA and ICL. Assuming by "custom" that's what you mean (you aren't really going to design your own lobes, right?) any of the big cam companies will grind one for you. Turn around from Comp is currently 3-5 days on such a "custom". There are also shops that will literally design lobes to your spec, but unless you know a whole lot more than the rest of us I wouldn't even consider that route. It can also be quite expensive.

Look at the Comp or Crane web sites and you can view their "lobe library".

BTW: this isn't a put down, but if you have to ask this question I'd be careful about thinking you have discovered a "speed secret" and your "design" is gonna blow everyone else away. If you want something different that is actually likely to be an improvement over a standard grind you should consult with a competent engine builder. It will cost a few dollars, but is more likely to give you a decent result. Bret Bauer advertises on this board and will design a cam for you. He knows his stuff.

Im not designing a new cam i just want to take the specs from the trick flow cam and put them on one that would fit in an LT1.
Its not like im just throwing around a lot of numbers and saying make it for, someone who new what they were doing designed this cam but they dont make it for 87-up rollers.

Just look in the Comp Cams catalog and find the lobes that are closest to what you want. The don't charge much more for a "custom" than for an off the shelf cam. Anyone who buys from them can get it for you. I am pretty familiar with the CC catalog. What are the specs of the cam you want?

I found a lunati at there web site that is almost identical to the one i want and i think i will go with that one. But thanks for the help and correct me if im wrong but and cam designed for an 87-up roller will fit in the LT1 from 92-94 right, its the 95-up that have the longer pin.

I think that there is also a larger pilot hole in the front of the cam for early LT1's. Call Lunati to be sure you are getting the correct core.
