Where to buy a new engine?

So the old engine is dead...officially declared cracked at 4pm EST.
So I need a new engine. I'm going to have a VERY maximum of $10K to get the car on the road (part, labor, etc.). I don't really want to have to do anything, I just don't have the time to build...I just want my baby to run again. Also, if you could suggest where I might order my new engine, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for your help.

I think Scoggin Dickey Performance sells new replacement LT1 short blocks that you might want to check into. Also, you might want to check into companies like APE, who sell assembled short/long blocks for the LT1. Combination Motorsports also sells assembled short/long blocks. I think that you will have to call Scoggin Dickey but the add for the replacement new LT1 4 bolt short block is like $1750.00.

Re: Where to buy a new engine?

I heard there is a company out of Canada that still makes LT1s. A guy i knew bought a SS camaro from the dealer and before the warranty they had on it went out the oil pump went out. They ended up putting in a new engine, he said it came from Canada.

I'd personally buy a bare block and go from there.

Re: Where to buy a new engine?

Thanks for the replies. If I get a block and go from there...how much (ball park of course) might I expect to have to pay a mechanic to assemble and install it?

What am I looking for when shopping? I know that an LT1 engine will go in snugg without a problem, but what about the GM engines? mopar? arrrgggg.

Thx,
mj

The LT1 is what the car calls for. Of course the LT1 is a GM engine. I don't think you want to try to put a Mopar or Fomoco engine in it. GM might have a crate engine for it.

Go with a Crate LS2 engine from SLP or something like it. http://www.gmpartsdepot.com/store/pr...Category_ID=2&
here is the LS2 from GM at $5,895.00 Nice price. Then the rest of the 4k on installation and Misc stuff.
