I know someone that has a shifter in the stock console, RacinLT1 you could look him up on this board and he might be able to tell you what, where, and how it was done.

I PMed Dirk (RacinLT1) for you, but I know that he is heading down to Ocean City MD today and not sure if he left yet, if so then he won't respond for a while.

This is bothering me too....All I want is a Hurst Dual-Gate, but apparently its impossible to make shifters for our A4's. Since the 4L60E is the updated 700R4, I wonder if a shifter for that transmission can be modified?

They dont make one beacause there is NO reason to shift our cars, its worthless and in my opion thats why my first tranny died years ago. Dont forget the pcm controll the shifts.

Shifting a 4L60E manually won't hurt it.
Yes, I agree...I'd like to see a B&M shifter along the lines of a Pro Stick built for our consoles. Apparantly B&M or Hurst doesn't care about us Camaro Guys. The last console shifter that was worth anything was the console Street Stick for the '70-'81 Camaro.
Yes, you can use a 4 speed gate plate in a regular Pro Stick to control a 4L60E/700, but I'd still like to see a console model.

I used the B&M console shifter for the 82-92 camaro in my 93 formula. I had to make a custom plate for it to sit at the right height and cut up my console top plate to do it but it looked pretty good when I was done. I also had to use relays to keep my neutral start safety switch because the micro switches that came with the shifter are to small to handle the amps. Oh yeah I also no longer had an indicator to tell me what gear I was in. I would not do this mod again. I don't have any pics of it but I got the idea off of this forum so if you search for it you might find it. I think it may have been on brent94z's homepage.

there are a lot of guys using a B&M Megashifter right with the stock console. look pretty cool IMO. Do a search for megashifter and you will find pictures. Personally I'm pulling my console completely along with parking brake and all that stuff and going with just a megashifter...but then my car is going more towards full race

I talked to Dirk he has a Pro stick in his car in the factory console, he is away right now but said he will jump on and tell everything about it when he gets back maybe monday. He said that he had to modify it to work but i will let him get on with details later.

Frank.......I too was suprised to hear you say that manually shifting a 4L60E won't hurt it. I was thinking it was you who had responded to a post from a ling time ago, where a guy was complaining that he wasn't getting any engine braking anymore when down shifted his A4. My understanding is that you can burn out the overun clutches by manually downshifting.

Please adivise oh mighty A4 expert!
