When do headers become a requirement?

Well, considering that the headers were designed to restrict flow in order to insure that the corvette was faster. They are the one thing on my car, other than the OPTI that I can not wait to get rid of. I have a set of Jet-Hot Long Tubes on order and I cannot wait until they get here, but I will have a custom Y pipe installed so that I dont have to worry about fitment or having leaks. I think long tube headers are definately a must.
Look at it this way:
You're not going to want to bring in more air if you can't expel that excess air coming in. Thus, most people go catback and CAI first, then headers.
They're worth a ton of power, and will be hindering you the moment you start modding the car.
