When to do 4 bolt main conversion.

The question is probably been asked many time but I couldn't find any info. I have a forged short block but it has a 2 bolt main. I'm looking for about 800HP so should I get it converted to 4 bolt and splayed? How much does it typically run?

I would say that you will need a 4 bolt setup for that but many factors help make the decision.

I'm assuming you will be using a major power adder to get 800 HP so its safe to assume that you will need a 4 bolt setup.
RPM is also a major factor in the decision.

I'm not even sure that the stock block can handle 800 HP on a regular basis.
I imagine that others with more experience than I will be of more help.

For an 800HP setup, 4-bolt mains would be a good idea. The stock LT1 block, with the 4-bolt caps, has been demonstrated to be very reliable, without block fill, at power levels in excess of 1,100 flywheelHP.

That's good news. I plan on getting a PTK turbo kit with a PTE76-GTS. It's a ways off but it sounds like I'm on the right track. What heads/cam setup do you think I should run? I want to go 9's at least, maybe quicker. I have set of mildly ported stock heads. I'm not sure if I should get them fully ported or invest in some AFR's instead.

800 HP is a really big number. With a 3050 lb car, I wouldn't think that you would need 800 to get into the 9's, but I could be wrong. I would imagine with a quality, purpose built turbo motor wouldn't have a problem running a 9.99. I'm sure that the gang over on the Forced Induction forum would be able to get you pointed in the right direction for your combo.

By my calculations I need about 650 at the wheels IF I can keep the weight down which is very questionable. I still have to add a cage, and about 150-200# in other mods to the car to handle the power.
