Wheels and Tires
I want to go with the 2001 Style Corvette rims for my 94 camaro Z28. The stock rims are 16 X 8.5 (I think). I am planning on getting two front sets of corvette rims...17 X8.5. And i was wondering what is the offset of those rims and if that combination would work. Or if i should go with the corvette set-up 17x8.5front and 18X9.5 rear......would there be any problems with running the corvette set-up? ......but then i can't rotate them. Also what tire size should i use.....the stock 245 or 255?
Stock wheels are 16x8 w/ 55mm offset.
2001 C5 wheels are:
17x8.5 w/ 56mm offset (a direct replacement for what you have).
Hard to find the right tire for that width rim... I think only Dunlop will recommend a 275/40-17 on an 8.5" rim, and it might not look to good... a little "bulgy". That would leave you with a 255/45 (26" diameter, larger than stock) or a 255/40 (25", smaller than stock).
18x9.5 w/ 65mm offset. The might put the wheels in a little deep, and depending on how wide a tire you run, might cause some rubbing on the inside edge of the tires. 275/35 or 285/35 would be OK.
You can't rotate them. The 65mm offset of the 18x9.5 would put the wheel into the steering knuckle. Spacer is a possibility, but not recommended. Not sure it would look too good with 17's on the back and 18's on the front

As far as tires, I just purchased some Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. I tell you they are amazing. As long as they make them, there will be nothing else on my car. They have a great traction rating and get pretty good milege too. They are the #1 performance radial according to Tirerack.com. I got mine off Tirerack for 142/tire (P245/50R16) and had them delivered to my local tire shop. That was cheaper than Goodyear could get them for. Also I've heard nothing but good reviews for this tire. and their Y rated (186 MPH). Here is the link:
