Wheel hop......

Before I blew my motor I had some bad wheel hop. I never had it with my GSC's. When I moved to the 11" 315's on the rear I have a lot of hop now. What causes it and how do I get rid of it?

Lower control arms, brackets and a torque arm will do the trick............its caused by bad suspension geometry fromt the factory, and its very bad for the rear end...... I had bad wheel hop till i put those on................no more wheel hop....

I solved mine with just an air bag on the right rear.

Holy CRAP!! You guys were actually serious. I thought you both were messing with me. There actually is an airbag!! You keep them on the car all the time???

If I was to go with the lower control arm, torque arm and brackets....which ones should I get. Part #wise??

thanks

You really can't go wrong with BMR parts. They make everything you could want for suspension.

Do I really need to get all that just to get rid of wheel hop??? That's like $800.00. I just finished my motor and tranny...down about 9K.

LCAs alone should do the trick. A good set is about $120.

Yeah, I never really had wheel hop, but new LCAs should clear it up. I bought Lakewood control arms, nice quality, works well ( I guess, I never had problems), and can be bought through Summit for right around $100 shipped.

what about wheel hop when making a turn, whats the culprit of that? i seem to have that problem when making a right hand turn

edit: this has only been happening after installed my Moser 12bolt, i went to the track about 2 weeks ago and didnt have any wheelhop issues in a straight line, just when turning

thanks

The Moser 12 bolt is a posi. I doubt the differential slips on the turn. Dunno if thats the correct term (someone help me on this). But because of that....when making a turn the inside wheel is actually turning less than the outside wheel. Thats where you get the hop. Its actually trying to like catch up I guess you could say.
