Talking whats your redline?

I think the 97 lt4 has a 6,300 rpm redline. Can you spin a motor that high with a hot cam kit?

whats needed to spin a lt1 that high?

whats your redline?

I can rev to 6900 no problem but I shift at 6500.

Mind you I have a built up bottom end and I'm using a fluidamper.

Mine shifts at 6k. It's stock as far as internal mods go, and I think the previous owner raised the redline(I think it's 5780 or 5870 out of the factory). It's an auto, so I really don't need it to be any higher, until I get headers and a cam, then I'll probably move it up to around 6200.

My fall off is around 6,900 RPM on a ZZ409 and a built bottom end.

My Rev Limit is currently set at 6400 RPM, but that is liable to change after my dyno tune and i see where my peak power.

I lot of people who have a stock bottom end can be very immature about their rev limit. Just because u rev the **** out of ur engine to 7000+ RPM, doesn't make u faster than any other particular engine. U select ur Rev Limit based on the point where u are making peak power. Extending ur rev limit and ur only doing more harm to the moving parts of ur engine, especially the timing chain and gear.

Even with a built bottom end, redline is dependent on valvetrain as well. With a solid roller lifter setup, you can rev about as high as you want, and for us hydraulic roller guys, AFR Hydra-rev helps. I still wouldn't rev past 6300 on a hydraulic roller setup, unless I just didn't care. I revved to 6500 once, and never again. I kicked a rocker arm right off the valve tip, and it was pressing down on the retainers instead. Ever since, I have been plagued by a light ticking noise and I think one or more of my lifters are shot.
