Whats wrong with my car!

Ok I've got a 95 Camaro M6, its recently developed this starting problem, I turn the key, it fires up and then dies. I do this a few times until it starts but even then its running like its on 4 cylinders. Its worse when its a cold start.

The revs are stuck at 7-800 rpm and giving it a bit of throttle makes the engine and whole car shake about.

Although after about a minute, it clears and then idles and runs fine

Please dont tell me its the opti

Anyone care to throw a few suggestions as to whats going wrong? is this a common problem?

This is becoming a real problem lately

Sounds like something is leaking in the fuel system (injectors, fuel pressure regulator)

Dose it puff lots of black smoke on start up?

Theres no smoke at all when I start it up. Is it possible for the fuel lines to get an airlock?

Also does each bank of cylinders have a seperate fuel feed to the fuel rails? I mean is it feasible that one half of the engine is recieving very little or no fuel on start up due to an air/vapour lock?

Could also be the fuel pump dieing.

You should check your pressure and see if it bleeds down or is low

If it were the pump failing would it not affect the regular driving and acceleration?

Is there an easy way of checking the fuel pressure without taking it to a dealer? I dont have much in the way of tools

WHen I first transplanted my 94 LT1 into my 94 4x4 s-10 it ran like total crap. It drove but was super slow. It turned out that I didnt have power on half the injectors. I think in your car there should be two seperate fuses for the inejctors, I would check those. The injectors still fire but they fire at the wrong time and the wrong amount I believe. After fixing the power problem my truck screamed, made me very happy.

How warm does it need to get? Does it start running better once it goes into closed loop?

My car has also done this, it seems it only did it in cold weather though.

It ran really rough, and less than a minute later it would cut over suddenly and run perfectly. I can't figure out why it did it though.
