Whats it take to build a 396 short block

I hear of many 383 builds, but whats the benifit of going to a 396.
whats it take to build one? and does it consist or overboring your LT1?

Yes you have to have the block over bored and clearanced just like on a 383.

The stroke is longer with a 396.

Most people will tell you the extra cost of machine work and parts isnt worth the gain of those extra cubes over a 383. Plus in order to make it work you need some killer(read:EXPEN$IVE) heads where you can get by with some ported stock castings with a 383.

Yea, I figure I would need some big money heads, I just want to know if it was worth the build for a DD.
