Re: What's so special about GMMG Exhaust?

I prefer a true dual setup ... My old exhaust actually. Now I've running a "2OTL" w/ 3.5 int. and over axle pipe.

FWIW, I've never heard a GMMG exhaust, except for on their website - and it sounded too much like a jet boat to me. I'll take my higher pitched "screaming" over a "deep" exhaust any day.

That's just me though .

it sounds real nice, but from what i've heard of my buddies w/ long tubes and no cats, its awfully quiet for my taste, , hooker and gmmg sound similar to me, for a price tag like that, it should sound distinct like borla or corsa.

I just got in on that GMMG GP too, but I had mine installed at their shop instead of the free shipping. The clips on their site don't do it justice. I sound a lot better in person, I actually think it sounds better on LT1's, than LS1's. Yes, there are other exhausts out there that are a lot cheaper, and those are for people who are more on a budget, and that is a lot of people.(i am too, but splurged on this one) But when you do compare it to most of those cat backs in the same price range (borla, corsa, etc.) I personally believe it sounds a lot better than all of those. Just my .02

If you do get lucky to jump on a GP when they rarely have them it's even better. The one they just had was 600 shipped for the round tips, and 730 for the oval tips. I went with the oval tips for 730 installed.

Anyways back to GMMG, i didn’t start this thread to bash it, I was just hoping someone would enlighten me on why it’s so expensive and so many people love it. Can you post some clips of it on heads/cam car with no cat? I just don’t see how that exhaust would be tolerable since its straight pipes with 2 chambered pipes in the middle.
I never said it was stupid to swap rims that often just that some people might call it excessive just like you think the cost of GMMG is excessive. I could possibly get some sound clips but I'm not for sure. I'll have to ask around. It is loud I'll give you that. But it still sounds great even at the higher volume. And the reason so many people love it is because it sounds awesome

Why do you guys keep bashing the price. If its to costly for you and you think that its not worth $700 then don't buy it.

Not to mention that it doesn't even come with the I pipe? Basically its a $700 muffler. Awesome!
Well I thought I loved SLP's center mount exhaust. It looked great in pictures. Then I saw it in person and really didn't like it at all. Pictures don't always do something justice.

And yeah it comes with an I pipe, all hardware, plus shipping is included which we all know can be a bitch.

Re: What's so special about GMMG Exhaust?

Has anyone dynoed their car before and after the gmmg exhaust. The pipes that come out of the y before the mufflers looks small like 2inches or less. I'm not that impresed with the desighn or the sound. I've heard it in person and on the site. Its definetly unique but not exactly my taste. I had a chambered exhaust on a 5.0 mustang. It wasnt stainless but aluminized. It cost $99!! Haha The GMMG exhaust is definetly overpriced but like what was said before To Each His Own and buy what you want. As long as the individual is happy with the purchase thats all that matters.

well, I didnt say a word about the price, but now that you mention it, I'll stick with my cutout, sound better, make more power, and use all that money I saved on parts that are actually worthwhile...

all I wanted to know is why you GMMG guys have such a stick up your collective @sses about something as simple and insignificant as a catback for your car. All I'm saying is...so what. But I guess you've gotta defend such a purchase somehow

For those who think that the GMMG is to exspensive but want a "chammbered exhaust sound" let me repeat myself

More power but no one in their right mind thinks a cutout sounds better . That $300 or so you spend on your SLP quad exhaust could of been spent on something worthwhile also...I bet you think that looks pretty good. I personally don't care for it but you don't see me ripping on you for buying it.

We bought GMMG because it sounds good. If I just gave a crap about power I would just cut my exhaust off. But I care about performance, looks, and sound amoung other things. I don't need to defend my purchase. I'm happy with my choice, you guys just wanted to know why so I tried to tell you. Obviously that wasn't good enough. To each his own.

I do. About $600 better. But you keep telling yourself that.

You just did.

And how do you know it wasnt a gift and I didnt spend a dime on it? You dont.

You cant go out and get a better looking, better functioning quad exhaust for a fraction of the price. Unlike the GMMG. Thats the difference.

Man, you almost got me with that one there, son. But thanks for playing...

All the butthurt GMMG guys should start a support group or two....

"The World is Jealous of My Exhaust: Coping"

...or maybe...

"Owners of The Most Expensive Exhaust in the World: Life After The Purchase"

I'm just playing around with you guys

Ok...Cost has nothing to do with how good something sounds or looks etc. For example using your reasoning, My 16 inch rims with snow tires look better than your chrome ZR1's because they cost less

How do you know my GMMG wasn't a Christmas Present? You don't but I'll let you in on a secret...it was. So I didn't spend a dime on it.

No I didn't rip on you buying the SLP exhaust kit. I said I didn't like how it looked. I wasn't like "Man you are stupid for buying that". Big difference between expressing my opinion on how something looks and telling you that you wasted your money.

Better looking, better sounding, etc is all opinion based. No there might not be a better quad exhaust kit but to me and other people there are better ways to spend our money to make the rear of our cars look good. Just like you think there are better ways of making your exhaust sound and perform good.

Go ahead and say we wasted out money. Anyone could say you or me wasted money on anything on our cars. Its all opinion based.

I'm damn happy with my exhaust and I bet all of the other GMMG owners are to. Thats what life after the purchase is like. It was worth it to us. So you can quit makeing it out to be that we sit at home every night crying and kicking ourselves for buying this exhaust.

No, but you have exemplified that you do search message boards (or this one at least) defending the GMMG's status as Greatest Exhaust Ever.

But it doesnt matter anyway because now you're making **** up....not to mention the fact that you have completely missed every singe one of my points because you were too busy defending your exhaust's honor

But, I digress.... You are right. Your exhaust is the best and worth all 42000 pennies. :blah:

End of discussion. Get over yourself.
