If you already have your heart set against it, why question other peoples' opinions?

Its not like i cant afford a GMMG i just dont see why to buy it since it doesnt sound good on heads/cam cars with no cats. I can get the same sound by uncaping my cutout.
Sounds awesome on my cammed, LT, no cats Z28. Also sounds great on my dad's heads/cam and LT LS1. Nothing but compliments from anyone I talk to. Sorry but it doesn't sound the same as a cut out and you know it, thats what everyone says when they don't like an exhaust. You just started this thread to bash GMMG for some reason...

Some people might think its retarded buying a new set of rims every year or so. I believe you have had 4 or 5 sets in the past few years. We don't put you down for that so why put us down for buying GMMG. If it makes us happy so be it.

Oh and that "redneck" chambered pipe looks a hell of alot better than two pipes coming out of the same side of the car

I think the way GMMG sounds is great and the oval tips look awesome but i dont think its worth anywhere near the price they ask for it. I also feel the same about borla, but i hate the way they sound. Magnaflow, eldebrock and hookers are cool to, but to me nothing beats the flow and sound of the dynomax i have. It all comes down to you pay for what you want. Thats the fun part about modding and playing with our cars or any car for that fact. YOu like something and you got the cash for it then buy it.

Re: What's so special about GMMG Exhaust?

Sorry, but a GMMG cat-back system (with or without headers) sounds absolutely nothing like an open cutout or SLP Loudmouth throughout the rpm range or especially at mid to higher rpms. The GMMG is very, very tuned at WOT (really deep and muscular tone) unlike most other systems out there.

I agree too that the SLP 2OTL sounds great on an LT1 as well. But it also isn't as loud or as aggressive as the GMMG IMO. Yeah, the GMMG is definitely overpriced, but so is the Borla, B&B, and Corsa systems too. However, you truly do get what you pay for with the GMMG though (great sound, great dyno-proven flow, unique looks, and very high quality)...

BTW, I have it on my LS1 and wouldn't trade it for any other cat-back out there (and I've had and heard nearly every one available). Also love the sound of it on the LT1 as well...

I've never heard one and it may sound fantastic, but the only expression I can come up with for its looks is way too politically incorrect to use here. "Looks a hell of alot better than two pipes coming out of the same side of the car"? No way. It looks like it was assembled from spare parts.

Have you ever seen it installed on a car in person? Then I don't think your opinion on how it looks means much to any of us. Thanks

Re: What's so special about GMMG Exhaust?

Someone needs to reproduce the GMMG kit at a more affordable price. How hard could it be for an exhaust company to replicate the system? If someone offered a similarly designed, chambered exhaust system for $350 it'd be a hit. I would think that if a large company was not willing to do it, a company like Texas Speed would have the ability. They do offer the Rumbler and true dual system...

Maybe if we expressed intrest someone could get a similar exhaust made and produced for us at half the cost.

Re: What's so special about GMMG Exhaust?

well, i'm halfway installing it right now
i got mine on a gp price of 600 shipped, not good, but better than before
anybody have a used i-pipe that i could buy from them?
i need the part after the cat to hook it up (the gmmg is made for dual cats and mine is single so i need that part to bring it together)
i'm gonna sell my flowmaster so i don't want to cut that up
cschoenberger@cinci.rr.com if you guys have a stock i-pipe
hopefully i can get this on sometime soon and let you guys know if it was worth the price or not

Re: What's so special about GMMG Exhaust?

I know already, just by looking at it, that it would be way to dang loud for me. Lots of times, when people compliment your exhaust, it's just because they don't normally hear an exhaust so frickin loud. I don't need loud, and I don't need the drone of my exhaust hitting me through the entire RPM range. I want a deep idle, and old school muscle car sound, without letting everyone and their grandma hear me.

I found my exhaust, but everyone has their own opinion of what sounds good. For some, it's the loudest thing they can find. The GMMG is loud, and sounds good. I don't want THAT loud. My MAC mids with Hooker exhaust with a 12" bullet in place of the cat is plenty loud, especially at WOT. It's an awesome sound. It's exactly what I was looking for. The GMMG would be too loud for me, volume wise, but I'm sure it sounds great. It would just get old fast, for me.

How is getting new rims retarted if it doesnt cost me any money? I make money on the deals... so i think its far from stupid

Anyways back to GMMG, i didn’t start this thread to bash it, I was just hoping someone would enlighten me on why it’s so expensive and so many people love it. Can you post some clips of it on heads/cam car with no cat? I just don’t see how that exhaust would be tolerable since its straight pipes with 2 chambered pipes in the middle.

See, that's the good thing about pictures. They allow you to see what something looks like even when its not right there in front of you. I wouldn't have to see an intake made from vacuum cleaner hose "in person" to say that it looks like crap too.
Not to mention that it doesn't even come with the I pipe? Basically its a $700 muffler. Awesome!
