When I turn my AC **** to any of the blue positions (MAX, AC, and upper and lower vents) I get a "raaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" sort of noise from the engine, but not on the other settings (top vent only, bottom vent only, defog and lower vent, defog).

Word on the street says those blue settings are settings in which the AC compressor is activated, so does this mean the AC is going? It still blows cold air, just makes a horrid noise.

My belts also whine when cold, but I doubt that's the cause of it.

Anyone?

 

A/c compressor saying hello. It could mean it is ailing. Have an experienced a/c person listen to it and maybe have your system charge checked. I have heard compressors on lots of cars make some noise, but still seem to work.
