It should cost you $0 because you should do it yourself plus it will save you money for more mods.

i feel comfortable doing basic maintenance on most cars but i don't want to f-up any thing important, nor do i want to spend ten hours to install headers. what is the average time for the install, what major components need to be removed for install? don't you have to take off teh alternator, starter, etc...

I don't believe there is anything that hard about the install just time consuming. The worst thing about the install is taking off old rusty stuff. You do have to take off the alternator i don't believe the starter but either way they are nothing to difficult. It took me and a friend approx. 10 hrs to do mine but i ran into several things that ate up alot of time. I ran out of zip ties so i had to go get some at walmart then i had to go get some plug wires at autozone. I also had to go across town to weld up my off road pipe. The worst part was when i had to straighten out the header that i dropped on the ground and bent it enough that one primary wouldn't line up. That alone took me about 1.5 hours of jacking around trying to get it to fit before i found out what the problem was. I bet it could easily be done in 6 hrs or less with no major complications. If it takes 10 hrs that will be about 500 for the install. That is good money for other mods. Plus it will build confidence to do more mods. I was afraid to do my headers but after doing them and other mods myself they got me enough confidence to do a motor swap.
