Are you certain that the rattling is not coming from the cat? I had that happen to me, thought it was the exhaust, went to my friend who own's a muffler shop, he showed me that the ceramic in the cat broke apart, like broken claypots, sounded really funky! I had the cat replaced, and the noises disappeared, the car ran MUCH better, and it also ran cooler...

Magnaflow - $108 i love this muffler, its not loud at idle but at WOT it gets wicked...

Before i wen twith Magnaflow, i was looking at the dynomax super turbo and ultraflow. I've never heard either one, but they were cheap liek $58. The sound is supposed to be pretty deep. I can send you a clip of my magnaflow.

That's whay I was going to say. Magnaflow is cheap and most exhaust shops can make it, but you mind as well have them also make a 2.5" MB catback since its only like $70 for all the piping.

Are you sure it's actually something inside your muffler that's rattling? Maybe it's just hitting the heat shield. If you still want a new Muffler, I say Magnaflow also.

I loved my Dynomax Ultra flow and Jegs is once again having a $25 off the purchase of a Dynomax muffler, so for $75 you have a great sounding muffler with little interior resonance

my guess is that the rattling is your cat. i've had it happen on 3 fbodies now. i would recommend welding in a 2.5" pipe in it's place just because with my experience on my 94Z the results were 23mpg, a 2mpg gain...and i didn't drive slow either.
however, it was very loud with my dynomax muffler and it crackled alot. i liked it and got scores of compliments but if you don't like a cutout you may not like it.
you may be right about it being the muffler rattling, i had that happen once too cause it was just a really cheap muffler.
I just installed my dynomax ultra flow on my new 97 Z and it is the most beautiful 8 cylinder orchestra i've ever heard
deep but very quiet at idle....sounds like a race car a WOT. i love it!

Dynomax ultra-flow here.

Flowmaster also sounds really good. The ultra-flow is real deep. No interior resonance and is supposed to be one of the best flowing on the market. Look on LS1.com in the for sale sction. There was one going for $30 with only like 1000 mi on it. Or go to summit and they will give you a $25 rebate on one.
